Matthew Chapter 3: (Introduction to the Gospels, Coding Reference)

1Moreover within those days a John, the purifier, heralding, reaches within the-one uninhabited of the Judea, 2and saying, “Change-your-mind-and-heart you for the dominion of the universes has drawn-near.” 3For this is the-one, having been said from-under an Isaiah, the prophet, saying, “A voice of exclaiming within the-one uninhabited, prepare you the way of a lord, make you straightforward the worn-tracks of him.”

4Moreover he, the John, has the clothing of him from hairs of a camel and a leathern belt around the waist‹a› of him; moreover the nourishment of him was grasshoppers and a wild honey.

5At-that-time a Jerusalem was proceeding-forth towards him, also all the Judea and all the-one countryside of the Jordan-River; 6and they, confessing the failures of them, were being purified within the Jordan-River‹b› from-under him.

7Moreover he, having observed {the-ones} many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming onto the purification of him, said to them, “Offspring of vipers! Who indicated to you to have fled from the wrath intending? 8Then make you a fruit worthy of the change-of-principle-and-practice; 9and might you think not to say within yourselves‹c› we have a father, the Abraham, for I say to you that the god is-being-able out-of these, the stones, to have awakened children to the Abraham.”

10Moreover already also the ax is lying towards the root of the trees, then all a tree not making an excellent fruit is being cut-forth, and it is being cast into a fire.

11Indeed I purify you within a water into a change-of-principle-and-practice; moreover the-one, coming back of me, is stronger than me of whom I am not competent to having borne the footwear. He will purify you within a sacred spirit ┌and a fire┐, 12of whom the winnowing-shovel {is} within the hand of him, and he will purge-thoroughly the threshing-floor of him, and he will gather the grain of him into the storehouse, moreover he will burn-completely the chaff with an unquenchable fire.

13At-that-time from the Galilee the Jesus reaches onto the Jordan-River towards the John of the-one to have been purified from-under him. 14Moreover the John was impeding him saying, “I have a need to have been purified from-under you, and you are coming towards me.

15Moreover the Jesus, having replied towards him and said, “Just-now dismiss you for thus being-fitting it is to us to have fulfilled all a righteousness.”

At-that-time he dismisses it, 16╓and╖ ┌moreover┐ the Jesus, having been purified, straightway ascended from the water, and lo the universes were opened to him, and he observed the spirit of the god descend as-though a common-pigeon and coming onto him, 17and lo a voice out-of the universes saying, “This is the son of me, the-one affectionately-beloved within whom I am well-pleased.”

_____

‹a›The Greek is usually translated loins which is the region of the body from the lower rib cage to the hips or what is also known as the waist.

‹b›The NA text has ποταμός, potamos, meaning river which is not translated since it is redundant with my translation of ορδάνης, Iordanēs as Jordan River instead of just Jordan.

‹c›The Greek is reflexive 3rd person plural, however contextually it is 2nd person plural thus that translation.
