Mark Chapter 6: (Introduction to the Gospels, Coding Reference)

 

        1And thence he went forth, and ╓he came╖ ┌he comes┐ into the homeland of him, and the adherents of him are following him. 2And {upon} a Sabbath having become he began to teach within the sacred assembly.

      And {the ones} many hearing were being astounded saying, “Whence these to this one? And what the wisdom, the one, having been freely given ╓him╖ ┌this one┐; ┬that also┬ ╔and╗ ┌the┐ powers such as these ╓become╖ ┌becoming┐ through the hands of him! 3Is this not the craftsman, the son of ╓a╖ ┌the┐ Mary, ╓moreover╖ ┌and┐ a brother of a James, and of a Joses, and of a Judas, and of a Simon; and are not the sisters of him here towards us?” And they were being stumbling within him.

      4╓Moreover╖ ┌And┐ the Jesus was saying to them, “That a prophet is not dishonored except within the homeland of him and within the ones kindred ┌of him┐ and within the house of him. 5And he was not being able to have done not one powers there except he, having placed the hands upon {the ones} few sickly, medically treated; 6and he was marveling because of the lack of complete confidence and total trust of them, and he, teaching, was circulating the villages surrounding.

      7And he addresses the ones twelve, and he began to send them authoritatively two {and} two, and he was freely giving them an authority of‹a› the spirits, the ones impure.

      8And he directed them so that they may lift up nothing into the way except only a staff, not ╓a leather bag‹b›╖ ┌a loaf of bread┐, nor ╓a loaf of bread╖ ┌a leather bag‹b›┐, nor a copper into the belt; 9but sandals, having had been bound under one’s feet, and you might not clothe two tunics.

      10Also he was saying to them, “If where you would enter into a house, stay you there until you would go forth hence. 11And ╓as many as╖ ┌which place┐ would not have welcomed you, nor will they hear you; proceeding forth thence expel you the dirt, the one beneath the feet of you, into testimony to them. ╓Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable within a day to a Sodom or to a Gomorrah within a judgment than to that, the city.╖” 12Also they, having gone forth, were heralding so that they might change the mind and heart.

      13And they were casting forth many inferior divine beings, and they were besmearing with olive-oil {the ones} many sickly, and they were treating medically.

      14And the king, a Herod, was hearing for the name of him [Jesus] became prominent‹c›, and ╓he was saying╖ ┌they were saying┐, “A John, the one purifying, ╓has been awaken╖ ┌was awaken┐ from {the one} dead, and for this reason the powers are operating within him.”

      15┌Moreover┐ {the ones} other were saying, “That he is Elijah.”

      Moreover {the ones} other were saying, “That ╓he is╖ a prophet ┬or┬ as one of the prophets.”

      16Moreover╒the╕ ╥a╥ Herod, having heard, ╓said╖ ┌was saying┐, “╓That╖ whom I beheaded a John, this one ╓, is he,╖ was awakened ╓from {the one} dead╖. 17For he, the Herod, having authoritatively sent {the guard}, seized the John, and he bound him within the prison because of a Herodias, the woman of a Philip, his brother, because he married her. 18For the John was saying to the Herod, “That it was not lawful to you to have the woman of the brother of you

      19Moreover the Herodias was harboring a grudge against him, and she was desiring to have him killed, and she was not being able; 20for the Herod was being terrified {because of} the John, knowing him a righteous and sacred man; and he was protecting‹d› him; and he, having heard him, was doing much; and he was pleasantly hearing him.

      21And {upon} a well-timed day having become when a Herod with the birthdays of him ╓was making╖ ┌made┐ a meal with the great men of him, and the commandants, and the ones first of the Galilee, 22And {upon} the daughter of ╓her╖ ┌him┐, ╓the╖ ┌a┐ Herodias, having entered and having danced ╓and having pleased╖ ┌she pleased┐ the Herod and the ones reclining together at table, the king said to the little girl‹e›, “Request you me for yourself what if you would desire, and I will freely give you23And he swore to her ┌{the ones} many┐, “╓Thatwhat ┌anything┐ if you would request me for yourself, I will freely give you until {the one} half of the dominion of me.”

      24╓Moreover the one╖ ┌And she┐ having gone forth, said to the mother of her, “What ╓will╖ ┌might┐ I request for myself?”

      Moreover the one said, “The head of a John, ╓the purifier╖ ┌the one purifying┐!”

      25╓Immediately╖ ┌Straightway┐ have entered with haste towards the king she requested for herself saying, “I desire so that you may freely give me at once the head of a John, the purifier, upon a platter!”

      26And the king, deeply grieved becoming, because of the oaths and the ones ╓reclining together at table╖ ┌reclining at table┐ he desired not to have broken faith with her; 27and ╓immediately╖ ┌straightway┐ having authoritatively sent the king charged an executioner to have ╓been╖ brought the head of him. ╔┌And┐ ╥Moreover╥ going forth ┌he┐ ╥the one╥ beheaded him within the prison.╗

      28┬Moreover going forth the one beheaded him within the prison.┬ And he brought the head of him upon a platter and, he freely gave it to the little girl‹e›, and the little girl‹e› freely gave it to the mother of her. 29And having heard the adherents of him [John] came, and they lifted up the corpse of him, and they placed it within ┬the┬ ╔a╗ sepulcher.

      30And the earthly messengers are gathered towards the Jesus, and they reported to him {the ones} all ╓and╖ {the ones} as much as they did, and {the ones} as much as they taught. 31And he ╓said╖ ┌says┐ to them, “Come! YouThey {proceed} privately into an uninhabited place, and ╓take you rest‹f›╖ ┌take you rest‹f›┐ a short time for the ones coming and the ones departing were many, and they were not even having opportunity to have eaten. 32And they went forth privately ╓{within}╖ ┌within┐ the fishing boat into an uninhabited place.

      33And ┬the crowds┬ ╔they╗ observed them departing, and many recognized ╓him╖, and they were running together by land there from all the cities, and they went before them, ╓and they met towards him╖. 34And having come forth ╓the Jesus╖ ┌he┐ observed the large crowd, and he was compassionate upon them because they were as sheep having not a shepherd, and he began to teach them {the ones} many.

      35And already {upon} a late‹g› hour‹h› having become, the adherents of him, having come forward, ╓are saying╖ ┌were saying┐ to him, “That uninhabited is the place, and already {it is}a late‹g› hour‹h›, 36Release you them so that they, having gone forth into the surrounding countryside‹i› and villages, might buy themselves ╓loaves of bread for they do not have╖ which they might eat.”

      37Moreover the one, having replied, said to them, “Give you freely them to have eaten!”

      And they say to him, “We, having gone forth, might buy loaves of bread of 200 denarii, and we might freely give them to have eaten.” 38Moreover the one says to them, “How many loaves of bread do you have? Depart you and observe you

      And they, having known experientially, say, “{The ones} five and two fish 39And he charged them to have reclined {the ones} all, groups by groups‹j› upon the greenish-yellow grass. 40And row by row‹k› they reclined ╓up╖ ┌down┐ {the ones} one hundred and ╓up╖ ┌down┐ {the ones} fifty.

      41And he, having taken the five loaves of bread and two fish having gazed into the universe, praised, and he broke apart the five loaves of bread, and he was freely giving {them} to the adherents of him so that they ╓might place beside╖ ┌may place beside┐ them, and he distributed‹l› the two fish to {the ones} all. 42And {the ones} all ate, and they were satisfied. 43And they lifted up ╓twelve satiated baskets of fragments╖ ┌fragments filling up of twelve baskets┐ and from the two fish. 44And the ones having eaten the loaves of bread were five thousand men.

      45And ╓immediately╖ ┌straightway┐ he compelled the adherents of him to have embarked into the fishing boat and to have led before into the one on the other side towards a Bethsaida while he ╓might release╖ ┌releases┐ the crowd. 46And he, having bid farewell to them, went forth into the mountain to prayed.

      47And {upon} evening having become the fishing boat was within {the one} middle of the sea, and he alone {was} upon the land. 48And ╓he observed them being tortured within the one to row for the wind was opposite to them; and around {the} fourth watch‹m› of the night he╖ ┌he, having observed them being tortured within the one to row for the wind was opposite to them around {the} fourth watch‹m› of the night, ┐ comes towards them walking upon the sea, and he was desiring to pass them.

      49Moreover the ones, having observed it walking upon the sea, thought ╓{it} to be╖ ┌that it is┐ a phantom, and they cried out, 50for {the ones} all observed it, and they were disturbed, ╓and immediately he╖ ┌moreover straightway the one┐ spoke with them, and he says to them, “Be you of good courage! I am! Be you terrified not!

      51And he ascended towards them into the fishing boat; and the wind abated, and they were amazing very greatly out of {the one} excessive within themselves, and they were marveling. 52For they did not comprehend thoroughly upon the loaves of bread ╓for╖ ┌but┐ the heart of them, having had been hardened, was.

      53And they, having crossed over, came onto the land, a Gennesaret, and they were brought the fishing boat to anchor. 54And {upon} them having gone forth from the fishing boat ╓immediately╖ ┌straightway┐ ╓they, having recognized him,

      55having run around that, the whole countryside,╖ ┌they, having recognized him, 55ran around country, and they┐ began to carry around the ones having illness upon pallets, where they were hearing that he is ╓there╖. 56And where he would be entering‹n› into villages, or ┌into┐ cities or ┌into┐ countryside‹i›, they were placing the ones ailing within the market-places, and they entreating him so that also if they might contact the edge of the outer garment of him, and {the ones} as many as would ╓be contacting╖ ┌contacted┐ him, they were being rescued.

‹a›The declension is genitive, however one could understand a preposition being implied such as κατά, kata with the genitive translated as against.

‹b›The Greek is πήρα, pēpa meaning a leather bag in which to carry provisions from the context it implies clothing as the bread could have the broad interpretation of food.

‹c›The Greek is φανερός, phaneros meaning visible, manifest so contextually widely known or prominent.

‹d›The Greek is συντηρέω, syntēreō meaning keep, preserve, maintain thus contextually protect.

‹e›The Greek is κοράσιον, korasion meaning little girl, maiden since this is the diminutive for the word girl, young wife, this daughter is probably preteen or near puberty for as I understand the cultures at that time a girl would be married or enter into marriage at puberty if previously espoused by the parents.

‹f›The Greek is ἀναπαύω, anapauō, meaning make to cease, put an end to, take rest, lie fallow; here the context is to take rest.

‹g›The Greek is πολύς, polys meaning many or much so contextually with time late.

‹h›The Greek is ὥρα, hōra meaning any period of time, season, year, fitting time; thus con textually the fitting time for the evening meal has passed or the hour.

‹i›The Greek is ἀγρός, agros meaning field; the context is the countryside including hamlets being smaller than villages as well as the fields; thus the use of countryside.

‹j›The Greek is συμπόσιον, symposion meaning drinking party; the context is group as at party where there are various groups of people in different conversations. The Greek repeats the word to indicate multiples together, thus groups and groups or more commonly in English group by group.

‹k›The Greek is πρασιά, prasia meaning bed in a garden; the context is group as a planting by type of vegetable plots or rows of a garden. The Greek repeats the word to indicate multiples together, thus rows and rows or more commonly in English row by row.

‹l›The Greek is μερίζω, merizō meaning divide, distribute, disunite; the context is distribute whereas elsewhere I have translated as disunite.

‹m›The Greek is φυλακή, phylakē meaning watch, guard, prison; thus contextually the watch as the night was divided into three watches by the Greeks and Israelites before Roman rule and four under this realm and was the time of changing the guard shifts.

‹n›The Greek is εἰσπορεύω, eisporeuō, meaning proceed into or insert. This word is a later use for εἰσέρχομαι, eiserchomai meaning to enter or proceed into thus the use of enter here to fit the context.
