John Chapter 15: (Introduction to the Gospels, Coding Reference)

1“I am the vine, the-one true; and the father of me is the-one tilling-the-ground. 2All a tendrila within {the-one} possessed-by-me, not producingb a fruit; he cutsc it off; and {the-one} all producingb a fruit he prunesc it so-that it may produceb {the-ones} more a fruit.

3Already, you are spotless because-of the word which I have spoken to you. 4Stay you within me and-I within you; according-as the tendril is-being-able not to produceb a fruit from itself, except- it ╒-would stay╕ ╥-would stay╥ within the vine; thus, not-even you, except- you ╒-would stay╕ ╥-would stay╥ within me. 5I am the vine, you the tendrils; the-one staying within me, and-I within him, this-one produceb much fruit; because otherwise-than of me you are-being-able not to do nothing.

6If- someone ╓-would stay╖ ┌-would staynot within me, he was seen outside as the tendril, and it was withered, and they gather them, and they cast into the fire, and it is kindled.

7If- you -would stay within me and the messages of me may stay within you, If-whatever you may desire, you will request-for-yourself, and it will become to you.

8Within this, the father of me was made-renowned so-that you may produceb much fruit, and you, disciplesd to me, will become. 9According-as the father loved-affectionately me and-I loved-affectionately you; stay you within the affectionate-love, the-one possessed-by-me. 10If- you -would heed the injunctions of me, you will stay within the affectionate-love of me according-as I have heeded the injunctions of the father of me, and I am staying within the affectionate-love of him.

11I have spoken these to you so-that the joy, the-one possessed-by-me, ╓might stay╖ ┌may existe┐ within you, and the joy of you may be fulfilled.

      12This is the injunction, the-one possessed-by-me, so-that love-affectionately you {the-ones} one-another according-as I loved-affectionately you. 13No-one has an affectionate-love greater than this, so-that someone might place the physical-life of him on-behalf-of the-one friendly-loving of him.

14You are {the-ones} friendly-love of me if- you -would doas-much-as╖ ┌whichI enjoin to you. 15I no-longer callf you slaves because the slave does not know which the sir of him is doing. I have calledf you {the-ones} friendly-love because {the-ones} all which I heard beside the father of me, I commended to you.

16You did not elect me, but I elected you; and I have placed you so-that you may depart, and you may produceb fruit, and the fruit of you may stay; so-that which something you would request-for-yourselves the father within the name of me; he might give-freely to you. 17I enjoin these to you so-that love-affectionately you {the-ones} one-another.

18If the world-order is abhorring you, you know-experientially that it has abhorred me first {before} you. 19If you were in-accordance-withg the world-order, the world-order was friendly-loving {the-one} its-own; moreover, that you are not in-accordance-withf the world-order, but I elected you out-of the world-order; because-of this the world-order is abhorring you.

20Call-to-mind you the word which I said to you! ‘A slave is not greater than the sir of him;’ if they pursued me, also they will pursue you; if they heeded the word of me, they will heed the-one possessed-by-you. 21But all these will be done ╓to╖ ┌into┐ you because-of the name of me because they do not know the-one having sent me.

22If I did not come, and I did {not} speak to them; they were not having a failure; moreover now they are not having a pretense concerning the failure of them.

23The-one, abhorring me, also is abhorring the father of me. 24If I did not do the works within them which no-one other ╓has done╖ ┌did┐, they were not having a failure; now moreover they have observed, and they have also abhorred me, and the father of me; 25but so-that the word, the-one having had been written within the law of them, may be fulfilled, ‘That they freely abhorred me.’

26╓Moreover whenever╖ ┌Whenever┐ the-one advocating might come, whom I will send to you beside the father, the spirit of truth, which proceeds forth beside the father; that-one will bear witness concerning me. 27And moreover you are bearing-witness that you existe with me from a beginning.”

_____

aThe Greek is κλῆμα, klēma meaning offshoot, vine growth, branch, tendril; I think of a branch more like that of trees rather than of a grape vine, Greek μπελος, ampelos in verse 1, although technically a branch, it is more a tendril, a term used more frequently with vines.

bThe Greek is φέρω, pherō meaning carry, bring, present; when used with plants we think in terms of to produce fruit, grain, etc; that usage in this context.

cThe Greek αἴρω, airō and καθαιρέω, kathaipeō have very similar meanings of lift up and take down, respectively. The context in the first is that of dead wood being cut off as there is no life in it. The second take down is what as a vineyard keeper would say as prune, i.e. to cut off some of the living growth so that the energy goes into producing fruit rather than more growth. Thus in this context cut off and prune respectively

dThis is the same word being translated adherent, however the context is much more implying learners or students practicing the teachings of Jesus and not just some one following him around, thus disciples

eThe Greek is εμί, eimi meaning be as a linking verb is the usual usage; however here it is better rendered contextually as its usage of a substantive verb, exist.

fThe Greek is λέγω, legō, meaning to say but the context here is to name one or more commonly to call.

gThe Greek is ἐκ, ek, normally being translated out of with the meaning exit or emission out of, separation from; however when the context is one of origin in may be translated as in accordance with, which is consistent with the context in this verse.
